Nature’s Way Chiropractic in Braham collected over 100 new and home-made gloves, hats, mittens, scarves and jackets during their community mitten drive last year.

The chiropractic clinic is once again asking for the community’s help in their second annual mitten drive, and hope to exceed last year’s numbers.naturesway.jpg

The mitten drive will run through the first week in January, and each time you bring in a donation you can enter into a drawing to win a holiday dinner.

Dr. Sarah Ruther, owner of Nature’s Way Chiropractic, was born and raised in Isanti County and felt a mitten drive was a good way to give back to the community.

“We decided to do this because it’s something we can do to help out the community,” Ruther said. “Every Thursday morning we see people coming to the food shelf and wanted to do something to help. We also know people from the food shelf who talk about how the amount of people coming in has doubled. Some families who come to the food shelf don’t have anything, and we thought this was something we can do to give back to them.”

Ruther, whose married to Chris Ruther and has three children, said the mitten drive is part of her giving nature.

“The more I get involved in the community, the more everyone becomes like family,” Ruther said. “There’s been so many people who have come into our office and have been laid off or lost their jobs. We really try to help out any way we can.”

Nature’s Way Chiropractic opened in October 2008, and offers chiropractic and massage therapy, nutritional education and products, and exercise and rehabilitation for persons recovering from an accident or surgery.

Ruther attended Cambridge Christian School and graduated from Cambridge-Isanti High School.

She graduated from Northwestern Health Science University in April 2007 as a Doctor of Chiropractor with a bachelor’s degree in human biology.

“I’ve always been someone to help people,” Ruther said. “That’s why I went into the chiropractic care; I like to help and care for people.”

Donations for Nature’s Way Chiropractic mitten drive can be dropped off during normal business hours. The clinic is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and every other Saturday, 9 to 11 a.m.
