‘The Wedding Singer’ debuts this weekend at CIHS Print E-mail
Wednesday, 11 November 2009

Dolly Ann Fairchild
Guest Reporter

It has a cast of 40 actors singing with the Frank Wells orchestra, who is celebrating his 25th year as musical director, together with 100 unsung heroes on lights, backstage, set construction, box office or anywhere they are needed.

The 40-member cast of singers and actors of “The Wedding Singer” will be wearing 320 costumes reminiscent of the 80s.

They have been rehearsing for over two months. For those of you whose machines were ‘whirring’ way into the night, building the 80s costumes, a mere “thank you” just isn’t enough.

Celebrating his 25th year of directing the fall musical is Bruce Danielson, and they have a new dance choreographer, Jen Danielson.

One senior, a Wedding Singer actress, was overheard saying, “I can’t believe this is my last musical directed by Mr. D.” More than 20 talented actors and stage crew and orchestra graduate this year.

The musical is adapted from the movie of the same name and has until just recently been on Broadway, having earned five Tony Award nominations including best musical, best original score, best music, best lyrics and best choreography.

A special “thank you” to the Cambridge Star and the Isanti County News for their tireless advertising and KBEK’s live radio interview which will be heard at 7:30 a.m. on opening day, Nov. 13,  with actors, Christian Issac, the wedding singer and Tylinn Fahrni, one of his girlfriends.

If you have a group that would like to come together on any special night, please let them know at the box office when you arrive to pick up your tickets.

Stop in at “CURVES” see their display and see how excited they are. Call your “group” friends and make it a party. You will be honored before the show from the stage. Is this reminiscent of the flavor of Chanhassen??? However, you must reserve your tickets ahead of time to pick the best seats available.

Pick up your tickets at the Performing Art Center at the Cambridge-Isanti High School, 807 South 8th Ave. (from Hwy. 95 go north on Ashland, Birch or Cypress).

Performance dates are Nov. 13 and 14 at 7 p.m. and Nov. 19, 20, 21 at 7 p.m. and Nov. 22 at 2 p.m. The box office can be reached at 763-689-6466. Come early as there will be a line at the box office picking up tickets, and you will not want to miss the “pre-show.” You should be in the theatre 10 minutes early. Tickets are $5 for seniors and students and $7 for others.
