An accident on Saturday afternoon at the intersection of Hwy. 65 & Co. Rd. 5 in Isanti has left a 50-year-old male from St. Michael in critical condition.

Assisting at the scene was the Isanti County Sheriff’s Office.

Marcia: Motorcycle accident
I know this man. He is one of the most responsible motorcycle drivers I know. If he suddenly slowed down, then there was a safety issue that caused it. Please say a prayer that he comes through this. It will be a long road ahead of him, from what I have learned so far.

I was driving north not too long after the accident. I prayed the whole way home. I am glad to know that the motorcyclist lived and I will continue to keep him and his family in my prayers.

This is a prime example that people need to pay more attention when they are driving. I ride motorcycles and have had quite a few close calls on a bike due to others not paying attention. It is very sad that another motorcyclist has gotten severly hurt due to intentitive driving!!

On the scene: ...
I was at the scene in the parking lot of McDonalds when the wreck occured. I did not see the accident but eard it. I saw the skid marks and cannot believe that the driver of the truck could have seen the motorcylist until it was too late. I do not believe for a minute that he was merely driving behind him and was forced to slow down abruptly.

Could it be the M/C was hesitating to go thru the intersection as a general matter of caution? I don't jump out at green lights in case someone is running the yellow/red in the cross street.

Julie: Intersection/Road work/ accident
There is TONS of confusing road-work going on at that intersection right now. New road lanes/lanes closed ect. And it is a very busy intersection. Unfortunately I can see something like this happening at that intersection right now.

I know this a very dangerous intersection now with the construction going on, but why does MNDOT allow people to make a right hand turn at the light while going southbound. Maybe they need some police intervention to make people stop this very dangerous turn!

Marcia: To "B Cline" espcially, and to the rest of you.....
Thank you, so much, for attending to my, very dear, and longtime, friend. I won't mention names, for his protection. He is not in very good shape. I won't go into details here, but just please, keep him in your prayers. He will need them. And, thank you all, as well, for your concerns.

They don't allow people to make a right hand turn at the light while going southbound. if you would watch the signs it says you can't do that. that is why you are suppose to follow the detour and take that to five. Right there is an example of people not paying attention!!

Long time friend: To
I am also a long time friend of this man and also will not mention any deals of his name or get into detail of his condition, for his protection. However, he is very beat up, heavily medicated, but can respond to movement. It sounds like he will make it through this, but as Marcia stated, he will have a long road ahead of him. I believe he is strong enough and loves life enough to get through it all. As far as suddenly slowing down. I have rode with this man before and he is a very cautious driver. I am also sure that there must have been a reason for his sudden slow down if that is what occurred. In addition, people do need to be more observant when driving, especially when there are motercycles around. A large majority of motorcycle accidents are not caused by the motorcyclist. God bless him and his family and friends. Together we will all play a part in helping him move forward in his adventure of life.

Msul: Prayers
I was also at the scene of the accident and have been praying and thinking about it since Saturday. I do hope people can have a little compassion towards the driver of the truck. We all are guilty of making mistakes while driving. By all means I am not making excuses for him, but we all have to remember that most likely there is much pain and guilt on the other side as well. I pray for everyone involved in this traumatic event. Let it be a lesson learned that paying attention while driving is critical; One second looking at the radio, cell phone, or even things on the side of the road can affect our lives greatly in a heart beat. Continued prayers for all involved.

I feel that motorcyclists need to be a little more careful. How about all motorcyclists be required to wear a helmet. Well there's an idea! Atleast it might help if involved in an accident. I seen the accident and the skid marks of the truck. I pray for both people and I hope that a law can be passed so that every motorcyclist must wear a helmet. It there life!

Boop: reply to Prayers--Msul
Let it be a lesson learned that paying attention while driving is critical;
that is for sure, when my kid hit a motorcyclist on June 5th, she called from the hospital, the first thing I said was "OH MY GOD* is he alright???? instinct? anyway she thought it callous of me not to ask about her, I said, you are calling me, you must be ok, somewhat... it was an awful intersection,
be careful people on these country roads, if you don't know the road, the curves, hidden intersections, deer paths.. slow down.

Dave: Thx to all
A huge thank you to all who helped my brother after he was hit. That is a big reason why he is still with us. He is a cautious rider, I would estimate that he has a minimum of 250,000 miles on his bikes without an incident until now. Thanks for the prayers also, he is worth praying for....

If anyone has info about how this happened the family would sure appreciate it if you would contact the Minnesota State Patrol and give a statement or tell what you saw. That wont get my brother healthy but it may prevent someone else from suffering like this or worse...Prayers for all.

Laurie: Prayers and thoughts....
My prayers are with both the motorcyclist and the driver of the truck. I am sure they can both use them. As someone else said...we are all guilty of not paying enough attention to our driving. My husband and I also own a Harley and love to ride. My husband is a very careful rider. There have been many times that we have been cut off by inatentive drivers. We all need to be more careful. As far as having to wear a helmet...I am sure there are many who will tell you stories about how they didn't help in a certain case...just like there are times when the seat belts didn't do their job. Yes we should all be wearing helmets for safety, but the bottom line is that a driver of any vehicle just really needs to pay more attention to the road and the other drivers.

I was behind a few cars and witnessed the truck come to a julting stop and skidd. It was a red light that just turned green, I was waiting for some people who cant read take a right on 5. There was only 4 cars ahead of me when the light was red and when it turned green I was not going five mph yet when the accident happened. I've been praying for him since then. Our prayeres are for him, his family, and friends who will all help him through this.

My wife and I are some of the people that stayed by your brothers side thru this time. I have been in contact with the State Patrol and would like to be updated on the condition of your brother. JJ: Thinking of you and your families emotions
After reading this article and seeing the scene on where it happen I feel that the truck driver was going too fast in the area and not paying attention to his surroundings. It looks like he skidded over 60/70 ft. If he was attempting to slow down then there would not be skid marks that long. I feel that the truck did not slow down and then hit the motorcycle. The driver of the truck is at fault. When you get into your vehicle you are taking responsible for your driving. The motorcyclist was being careful and the truck was not. I feel this article is portraying the motorcyclist as being wrong and the person who wrote it article show get their facts straight before printing. I feel bad for both parties but come on take responsible for your actions. I am praying the motorcyclist recovers, but he will have a long road ahead of recovery. The truck driver should be charge with some kind of driving offense. I understand that accidents happen, but if the truck driver would have slow down earlier this could have been avoided. Also, this area is a work zone and the truck driver should not have been going that fast.

Justin: can't believe it
I am the manager of a local motorcycle dealer, and this has been in my head all week. I was traveling north with my wife and child shortly after the accident and cannot get the sight out of my head. I have been paying attention to alot of my customers that enter my building not wearing helmets. I believe that there should be a law for riders to have to wear them. Over the past 5 years of being in this business, I have lost over a dozen good customers of mine, not to mention those I didn't hear about. From one rider to another, I hope that all goes well for you and that one day you can get back on 2 wheels again. Good luck to you and your family, be strong, and take the truck driver to court ASAP for those of us that have been hit by drivers not paying attention and got something taken away from them because of it.
