Mass of Christian Burial was held May 8 at Christ the King Catholic Church with Father James David Hahn as Celebrant. Mary Kuhn and Sister Francette Malecha served as musicians and Rev. Paul Reynolds read Scripture. Pallbearers were John Anderson, Dennis Borchart, Bob Mattson, Bernard St. Claire, Bruce Walasek and Bruce Zenel. Interment was in Christ the King Catholic Cemetery. Mae was born August 21, 1924 in Mauston, WI and during her life she took on many roles from mother to wiring specialist at Otis Elevator. She was a perfectionist at sewing and knitting; many are honored to cherish a hand knit christening gown, Raggedy Ann or Andy, or matching bridal party dolls that she had made. Her talents were not limited to sewing as she also was very fond of gardening and home improvement projects. Mae made friends of all ages in her travels driving across the United States with her husband, Ted Gaida. Many people were touched by the tall woman with the stunning silver grey hair gracing a lawn chair in a campground that rarely wasted an opportunity to be with friends and family. She was a member of the VFW in Clifton, New Jersey. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wallace and Elizabeth (Laack) Granger; step-mother, Susie Granger; sister, Marcela Granger; son, Teddy Gaida; first husband, Walter Walasek and young brother. She is survived by her husband, Theodore Gaida; her daughter, Michele (Robert Mattson) Gaida of Blaine, MN; son, Bruce (Joyce) Walasek of Blaine, WA; step-brother Bernard (Helen) St. Clair of Stillwater, MN, grandchildren, Wendy Walasek, Tamara Mineo, Melissa Mattson, Tracy and David Gaida; and great grandchildren, Joseph Mineo, Dominick Mineo and Arek Zenel-Walasek. All will miss her dearly. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Strike Funeral Home - Cambridge Chapel. ©Isanti County News
