Reuben Lood

Reuben Joseph Lood, 85, of Cambridge died May 10, 2003 at Cambridge Medical Center.

Funeral services were held May 14 from Cambridge Lutheran Church with Rev. Erling Tungseth officiating. Donn Fredlund, accompanied by Mary Kay O'Neill, sang "Beyond The Sunset" and "Children of The Heavenly Father." Pallbearers were Jerry Lood, Glenn Lood, Vergil Reese, Jeff Edblad, Kristie Wilson and Kerri Chilcote. Burial was in the church cemetery

He was born September 18, 1917 to Abel and Emma (Broberg) Lood in rural Cambridge. He grew up in the Cambridge area and lived his entire life here. He was baptized and became a member of Cambridge Lutheran Church July 7, 1949. He served as an usher and greeter and enjoyed painting and working at the church as long as his health permitted.

He married Harriet Johnson April 24, 1948 at Fish Lake Lutheran Church in Stark, MN. The couple celebrated their 50th anniversary in 1998. Reuben was employed at Cambridge Woolen Mills for over 28 years until it closed. He later worked at Peoples Bank of Commerce for 11 years. In his retirement years he worked at Carlson-Labatte Funeral Home. Reuben loved traveling, especially all the trips he and Harriet made to Hawaii. He loved little children and was a very caring and patient man.

He was preceded in death by brothers Ernest, Edwin, Elmer, Emmet, Chester and Lawrence; sisters Ruth Olson, Esther Bergloff, Anna Nelson, Emma Jacobson; four nieces and four nephews.

He is survived by his wife Harriet of Cambridge, special sister-in-law Sandra Edblad of Cambridge and her family Jeff and wife Debra Edblad and children Clark and Peter of Cambridge; Kristie and husband Gibson Wilson and children Sam, Grace and August of Salt Lake City, Utah; Kerri and husband Craig Chilcote of Duluth; brother Abel and wife Betty Lood of Cambridge; sisters-in-law Sylvia Lood and Eleanor Lood of Cambridge, Margaret Wicklund of Fridley, and brother-in-law Willis Johnson of Cambridge.

Arrangements are with the Carlson-Labatte Funeral Home in Cambridge.
