Posted 7/12/00 Hillock West to undergo archaeological survey By Jon Tatting Though the environmental outlook regarding the proposed 65-acre Hillock West residential subdivision in Isanti appears compliant, another land hurdle will need to be cleared. The Isanti City Council agreed to bypass an Environment Impact Statement on July 5 but will delay official action based on findings of an archaeological survey. Council members will allow up to 30 days before they make their final decision. The survey of the project area - west of Rum River Drive - derives from a request by the Minnesota Historical Society. The 111-lot development sits west of Whiskey Road and along the north side of County Road 5 - opposite of Isanti Middle School. Last month, the council approved the final plat for the subdivision, which is driven by Land Holding Group, Inc. The developer and city have yet to agree on concerns regarding building permits for home modeling purposes and improvements to Whiskey Road. In other action, the council... - Approved the concept, by consensus, of allowing the local Soccer Club to use wastewater effluent for watering the soccer fields. - Backed the Isanti Police Department's request to purchase a new radar antennae and preliminary breath tester worth $810 to be paid from the department's 2000 budget capital purchase line. Water rates set for Aug. 1 As of Aug. 1, Isanti residents will begin seeing some slight increases in their water rates. Residents will notice: The increases are expected to help upgrade the city's current well including improvements tied to the 5th Avenue watermain extension project. |
